Yasser Omar Amine
Yasser Omar Amine is an Intellectual Property Lawyer and Art Market Law Consultant as well as a Certified Intellectual Property Trainer by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, Geneva).
As an Art Market Law Consultant, he has developed a unique experience in the field of Art Market Law consultations and litigations as well as a solid focus on the intersection between Art and Law. He is working as a Legal Advisor for several Artists, Art Collectors, Art Galleries, Art Foundations and Art Market Professionals in the Middle East on issues related to Copyright & Art Market Laws and related matters. He is the Legal Advisor to the International Project of the first catalogue raisonné for a Middle Eastern artist “Mahmoud Saïd Catalogue Raisonné” published by Skira Editore (Milano) in 2017.
As a Senior Intellectual Property Lawyer admitted to the Egyptian Bar Association, he has a vast experience handling many Intellectual Property (IP) litigation cases covering a wide array of industry sectors as well as all IP related legal issues such as Copyright, Patent, Plant Varieties & Trademark consultations, and contracts drafting. He actively represents national and international clients in numerous IP cases before Egyptian Courts.
In addition to his IP Practice, he is a Certified Intellectual Property Trainer by the WIPO since 2014 and Tutor at WIPO Academy, with experience in both designing and delivering practical IP Training Programs for diversified audiences in Egypt and abroad.
For over a decade, Yasser has published several articles in the field of Intellectual Property Law in some of the most prestigious peer-reviewed international law journals both in France and abroad. As an IP Researcher, he has published extensively in Belgian, French and Canadian Law Journals and he is the correspondent of Egypt for the reputable international journal “Revue Internationale du Droit d’Auteur” (RIDA, Paris), and for the French Journal “Propriétés intellectuelles” (edited by the IP Research Institute “IRPI”, Paris II Panthéon-Assas University). He is also the author of three books in Arabic on various Copyright issues published by Dar El Nahda El Arabia (Cairo): “The Legal Protection of Perfumes under the French Copyright Law” (2011), “Al Jami Al Yasser Treatise on Copyright Law and Art Market Law in Egypt and France” (Vol. 1, 2013) and “The Forgotten Memory of Egyptian Copyright Law History: the jurists M. Linant de Bellefonds, M. Pupikofer and E. Piola Caselli” (2014-2015).
In April 2018, he has been selected to receive a Certificate of Appreciation – among some IP figures in the Arab World – from the Intellectual Property & Competitiveness Department of the League of Arab States, in recognition of his efforts and contributions to disseminate a culture of respect for Intellectual Property Rights and raise public awareness of IPRs.
He is a member of the Regional Editorial Committee for Africa of the Revue Francophone de la Propriété Intellectuelle/the Francophone Journal of Intellectual Property (RFPI) published by the Francophone Association of Intellectual Property (Strasbourg). He is also a member of several professional and legal organizations in France, including: the International Literary and Artistic Association (ALAI), the Institute of Art & Law, the Centre d’Etudes et de la COopération Juridique Interdisciplinaire (CECOJI-UP, EA 7353), University of Poitiers and the Association Marcel Plaisant (Groupe de réflexion en droits de la pensée).
Yasser holds Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the French Section of the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University (Egypt) and a diploma in French Legal Studies from Jean Moulin University, School of Law (Lyon III, France), in addition to a diploma in IP Law, Faculty of Law (Regional Institute of Intellectual Property established with the cooperation of WIPO in 2006), Helwan University, where he was awarded the first prize for the best thesis in IP. He is also holder of a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.) in Private Law from Helwan University.
