
Lina Osama
Lina is a multidisciplinary visual artist who was born in 1986 in Cairo. Lina holds a bachelor’s degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University (2009), attended scholarships at the International Salzburg Fine Arts Academy and Traunkirchen Art Academy in Austria (2006-2009).
Lina has participated in 80 exhibitions in Egypt, Austria, France, Italy, Romania and Morocco. Local exhibitions include Egypt Int’l Art Fair (2020), Agenda in Bibliotheca Alexandrina (2020, 2018), 41st General exhibition of Egypt (2020) among others at various local galleries and art fairs. Her international exhibitions include Humans at Made exhibition in Italy (2016), Printemps du Nil exhibition in Paris (2011) and Gmundten 422 in Austria (2008). Lina has also held solo exhibitions at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Cairo, Cairo Atelier and Heliopolis International University.
She is the founder and curator of Living Units Visual Art Initiative international touring exhibitions against racism at Nile Art Gallery; Culture Bureau in Vienna; Go Arts Bucharest; Gezira Art Center; Goethe Institut Kairo and the Municipal Museum of Amazigh Heritage in Agadir, Morocco (2016-2019). Collectibles of Lina’s can be found at Egypt Cultural Bureau in Vienna, Municipal Museum of Agadir in Morocco, Irish Embassy in Cairo as well as the Austrian Embassy in Cairo.
Lina was given Cairo Youth Salon Prize (2007), 1st Place Prize in painting from Zamalek Art Gallery at Young Artist Salon of Fine Art Lovers vintage NGO (2015) and was granted artist residencies to Siwa Oasis from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture (2009, 2018).
