Born in 1981, Dr. Awad is an Egyptian painter, muralist and assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, South Valley University. His PhD dissertation which he completed in 2019, is titled “Artistic Vision Inspired by the Murals of War and Peace in Ancient Egyptian Art”. He also holds an M.A in Fine Arts from Helwan University and a B.A from South Valley University. Dr. Alaa has been a demonstrator at the Faculty of Fine Arts, SVU since 2006.
Inspired by ancient Egyptian heritage and contemporary society, some of Dr. Awad’s most popular works include scenes of celebration, victory, Sufism as well as Egyptian social life and culture. Dr. Awad has previously participated in a list of local exhibitions; some of them are: Visual Narratives, a group exhibition at Arts-Mart gallery (2018), Art Times exhibition at Picasso Art Gallery (2018) and Art Town at Safarkhan Art Gallery (2020). Alongside his contribution to many local exhibitions, Dr. Awad’s works were exhibited in international exhibitions some of which include solo ones in the United States, France, Denmark and several other countries.
Throughout his years as an artist and a lecturer, Dr. Awad was given the Painting Award by the Ministry of Higher Education as well as 1st Place Painting Award from Shomoa Gallery (2003). Dr. Awad conducted multiple Mural Painting and Street Art workshops both inside and outside Egypt along the years and his street art was highlighted in more than one online article written in English as well as other languages.
